Senior Quality Engineer

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support of supplier and customer quality issues in a dynamic MEMS microcircuit manufacturing environment.  This position is the first line in the resolution of customer and supplier related manufacturing yield, device performance, and quality improvement issues.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain audit strategies for processes, products and systems
  • Effectively coordinate supplier quality assurance activities
  • Lead projects to improve quality of manufacturing processes, products and purchased components
  • Act as proficient technical resource to department for statistical techniques and tools
  • Manage and follow-up on corrective action and RMA issues
  • Support internal engineering and production change reporting
  • Prepare reports for internal and external customers and assist with specifications and ISO compliant documents
  • Participate as needed with incoming optical inspection of wafers, PCBs and MEMS PCB subassemblies
  • Interact with customers to ensure effective communication and closure of customer-driven quality improvement activities
  • Take initiative in forming teams to address quality issues
  • Support product teams and continuous improvement activities
  • Supply information and assist with processing the quality portions of the release – manufacturing process, routings, control plans, FMEA, etc

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in ME, EE or Electronic Eng.
  •  Customer or supplier quality engineering experience
  •  At least 5 years of direct experience with high tech micro component manufacturing (semiconductor or MEMS)

Preferred:

  • ASQ Quality Certification, CQE, CQT, CQA, Green Belt, Black Belt 

Other:

  • Experience with ISO9000, TS16949 or equivalent quality management systems
  • Ability to plan and perform internal system audits and process audits
  • Familiar with electronic manufacturing clean room protocol
  • Experience with operating visual inspection tools, i.e., binocular and stereo zoom microscope, calipers, verniers and computer-based metrology tools
  • Familiar with electronic test equipment such as multi-meters and oscilloscopes
  • Demonstrated use of FMEA
  • Ability to understand and implement SPC on production processes
  •  Direct manufacturing experience in MEMS, CMOS, IC, PCB and/or PCB Assembly
  •  Experience in microcircuit assembly and/or failure analysis
  •  Ability to work independent of management, yet within a team environment of constantly changing priorities
  •  Ability to coordinate with suppliers on multiple quality improvement projects simultaneously
  •  Proficient with IT tools such as Word and Excel 
  •  Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
