Regional Sales Manager - North America

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) manages and directs the assigned territory, and or key/strategic account team to facilitate solutions for customer’s problems. The RSM supports implementation of strategies and directions of the Business Lines within the assigned territory and is responsible for identifying and tracking major customer needs by uncovering and analyzing market trends, customer, and competitive activity. The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the overall management of direct and indirect sales and customer support in the designated territory and ensuring successful customer design-in and adoption of Akustica technology. This person will also be involved in coordinating activities with Akustica strategic marketing initiatives for business development. This position will be based on the West Coast.

 

Responsibilities include:

Sales Management:

  • Secure orders and achieve sales per budget and sales forecast.
  • Focus on business development with major customer prospects.
  • Manage strategic partners in the territory including building peer relationships with key executives and driving consensus and action on key development issues.
  • Develop and drive a business plan which includes focus account profiles and penetration plans that support the system solution of customer needs as determined by the long range market segment business plan.
  • Regional travel is expected to ensure relationships and business opportunities are being developed. Occasional travel to Headquarters and other corporate locations will also be required as needed. > 50% travel expected.

Personnel Management:

  • Organize, staff, train, and lead a regional or key/strategic account team composed of the functions of Field Sales and Field Applications Engineers that can achieve the sales budget and overall strategic plans and actions.
  • Set mutual goals for the team. Monitor and evaluate the progress toward achieving these goals for each member of the team.
  • Develop a culture of collaboration across all business segments by applying leadership skills to create an environment of mutual trust, goals, vision and mission.
  • Develop the technical and personal skills of the team members; organize and implement product training programs for the field (FAE's, Sales, Distribution, etc.).
  • Organize and conduct staff meetings that are focused on informing, training, and motivating the team.

Communication:

  • Communicate the directions of the market segment strategies to the field so as to influence and align the behavior of the Field Teams with these strategies. Coordination of strategic marketing programs with partners and partner prospects.
  • Publish a weekly report that details activity of the Team and gives market feedback (product, competition, trends) to the Product Groups and to the Sales staff.
  • Organize, drive, and publish a quarterly report that informs the Product Groups and Field Teams about status and activity at the assigned accounts.

Qualifications:


  • Proven track-record (10 years plus) of success in business and/or commercial roles. Experience in sales and/or marketing/ product marketing and/ or business management
  • Experience in consumer electronics industries including mobile communications, digital media and mobile computing
  • Experience working for a North American high technology company.
  • Expert in the Semiconductors industry; outstanding market/industry network and understanding
  • Engineering background, strong technology understanding in the relevant area. BSEE or equivalent work experience related to MEMS, Acoustics, Sensors
  • Process and quality oriented. Experience managing a regimented “design-in-to-win” methodology
  • The ability to work on several projects simultaneously in a multi-disciplinary team environment and to maintain a sense of priorities while responding to daily interruptions
  • Good team leader, being able to drive performance in a remote team. Experience in building a team of high technology professionals. Team-oriented with excellent leadership skills
  • Must be an effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization utilizing both written as well as verbal communication.   Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).   Good social skills, ability to establish open communication with top-level contacts
  • Multi-culturally sensitive, able to adapt behavior to situation.
